Cymatica explores the relationship between sound, time, vibration, and the formation of matter. Situated within the 4th Dimension, the painting considers sound as a catalyst for physical transformation, questioning the nature of solidity in our three-dimensional reality. At the molecular level, matter is in constant motion, its particles interacting through invisible forces. Through resonance and frequency, sound can organize physical matter into intricate geometric patterns, revealing the extraordinary relationship between vibration and form.
The portrait depicts an otherworldly, humanoid figure singing into a dark cymatic void, her voice extending outward into the universe. Intricate blue and white frequency lines emerge from her mouth, translating sound into visible movement. These patterns were developed from studies of cymatics—the visualization of sound vibrations through their effects on matter, particularly water. A corresponding formation at the throat references the blue throat chakra, traditionally associated with voice, expression, and communication. Together, these elements investigate the relationship between sound, physical matter, and the unseen forces that shape our environment.
The potential of sound extends far beyond what we consciously hear. Its vibrations can organize matter, influence our sensory and emotional experiences, and reveal complex relationships between frequency, movement, and form. From musical resonance to contemporary medical applications of focused ultrasound, sound continues to expand our understanding of its physical and transformative potential.
Originally conceived through a photographic study with Jean-Sébastien Senécal in 2014, the portrait incorporates high-contrast glitter makeup by Sophie Parrot and an elaborate hair sculpture by Francis James Hawkins. The shimmering skin and architectural movement of the hair transform the human subject into an almost extraterrestrial presence, while the painted frequency patterns extend the figure beyond her physical boundaries.
Painted between 2019 and 2021, Cymatica considers sound not simply as something we hear, but as an invisible architecture of vibration, resonance, and time—one that challenges our perception of the physical world and the limits of consciousness.

ANAMORDIA is an evolving multidisciplinary body of work exploring perception, consciousness, and multidimensional reality through painting, photography, sculpture, sound, and immersive installation. Rooted in mythology and personal experience, each dimension unfolds as a distinct world, examining the fluidity of identity, the nature of duality, and the relationship between physical and metaphysical realities.
