Heliodreams : Mediterranean Dream Studies

Inspired by a series of four original metallic watercolor paintings created in Pylos, Greece, Heliodreams explores the relationship between sunlight, color, perception, and transformation. Developed beneath the shifting Mediterranean sun, these works emerged through experiments with metallic watercolor pigments, evolving into a visual language that blends nature, mythology, symbolism, and dreams.

About the Artwork

Evil Eye Orchid merges the vibrant beauty of a rare orchid with one of the Mediterranean's most enduring symbols of protection. Unfolding in luminous shades of pink, green, and gold, its intricate petals reveal a watchful eye at the flower's center, transforming the botanical form into something both familiar and mysterious.

Its symmetrical structure creates a striking sense of balance, while flowing tendrils extend beyond the bloom, suggesting movement, energy, and unseen connections. Rich colour gradients and intricate markings evoke the radiant landscapes of Greece, where nature, mythology, and symbolism have long intertwined.

Inspired by the protective power of the evil eye—a symbol found throughout Greece and the Mediterranean—this piece explores the relationship between beauty and awareness, vulnerability and protection. The flower becomes a living talisman, inviting reflection on intuition, perception, and the forces that guide us through transformation.
